"How can anyone who is able to enjoy the beauties of a Virgil, a Tasso, a Shakespeare, who can follow the logical conclusions of a Liebnitz and Kant--how can such a one find pleasure in the Old Testament, so deficient in form and taste, and in the senseless writings of the Talmud?"

Batman Begins

The Batman movie that released in 1989 was incredible. After the sequels Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), and Batman and Robin (1997) I was worried that the latest installment of Batman movies would be a disappointment, just like the last 3 movies. I am very glad that I was wrong.

I know this review is very late, but I finally got to watch it on DVD and felt the need to tell others to see it. Batman Begins was excellent. This Batman series is scheduled for 2 more movies. The next is due in 2008. I hope, that unlike the previous series, the sequels to this Batman don't suck. From what I've seen and read on some sites, this new Batman production crew has great ideas and I am excited to see what they will produce in the next one.

I know I haven't said anything about the actual movie. I will just tell you to see it. That way I can't ruin anything. Based on 568 Votes by NY Times online readers, this movie has 4.49 out of 5 starts. Right between Very Good and Extraordinary.

Quote Of The Day: Penn Jillette

"...so I see people wearing crosses around their neck all the time, and I think that that's cool... It keeps vampires away, for one, and two its good to have at least one system of execution around your neck at all times..."
A quote of Penn Jillette from Penn Jillette: Sawing People In Half radio show. Jillette, an atheist, was explaining on this particular episode why he feels he should be able to wear his "no god" shirt without criticism.

No Pants in NYC

A group called Improv Everywhere took off their pants and road the subway. Police got them on disorderly conduct.

The police suck. The group Imrpov Everywhere are a hilarious group trying to lighten the city with improve humor all over NYC.

After a very quick glance at their site, I found a very funny stunt they did called Suicide Jumper. Check it out. Very funny.

Benajmin Stove - Not Real

The site http://www.whoisbenjaminstove.com/ is a very creative site from Tucker Darby who is looking for the owner of a painting from 1913 about crop circles.

The site is registered to a company called GMD Studios. GMD Studios website says they are: "an experimental media lab and a brank think tank. We leverage independent and entrepreneurial thinking about media and community - sometimes in the building of our own branks, and sometimes in partnership with established brands looking for innovation". Basically, they are an ad agency that experiments with different methods of advertising.

There has also been a lot of money poured into blog ads for the Benjamin Stove project.

What will it advertise for? Time will tell.

Ray Nagin Has Ruach Hakodesh

Ray Nagin, the Mayor of New Orleans, seems to have ruach hakodesh just like Ovadya Yosef does.
YNet News Shas spiritual leader Ovadia Yosef: Hurricane Katrina result of Bush’s support for disengagement, failure of New Orleans’ black residents to study Torah. ‘This is the punishment for what Bush did to Gush Katif,’ rabbi says
Washington Post Mayor C. Ray Nagin suggested Monday that hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other storms were a sign that "God is mad at America" -- and at black communities, too, for tearing themselves apart with violence and political infighting.
